Watersports
Kayaking
Explore the superb unspoilt coastline of the nearby National Park at Cabo de Gata with Happy Kayaks in San Jose or Buceo in Las Negras
In Almeria try Eolo who have English speaking staff and take kayaking trips to the park as well as other locations in the area.
Outside the park if you just want to kayak from the nearest beach Samoa Surf in Mojacar have a range of surf kayaks and family kayaks for hire.

Windsurfing, Kitesurfing and Sailing
Eolo offer windsurfing lessons and hire from Almeria and into Cabo de Gata Park and at Almerimar which has the best windsurfing conditions on the whole of the Andalucia Coastline. Eolo also offer kitesurfing on the beaches.
Even closer to the apartment you can rent windsurfing equipment from Samoa Surf on Mojacar beach if you are experienced - if not you can join one of their courses. The same company can arrange sailing courses, laser and dinghy hire and guided sailing trips.

Boat Trips, Boat Hire, Waterskiing and banana rides !
Eolo arrange Catamaran trips around the volcanic coastline in the Cabo de Gata Park. In Faro de Cabo de Gata and Las Negras local operators offer boat trips around the parks peninsular take in the dramatic landscape on 2 hour tours covering the unique geology and history of the area along with time for a swim. Boats are also available for self hire to explore the area on your own in Agua Amarga.
Samoa Surf offer waterskiing courses / sessions for those after a bit more power as well as Wakeboard a cross between snowboarding and waterskiing. If this is all to much effort for you they can also provide banana rides off Mojacar Beach.

Scuba Diving
With the protected marine park at Cabo de Gata there is some excellent diving in the Med available in clear and safe waters for both qualified divers and for those who want a ""try dive" Excellent marine life as well as a few wrecks to explore

Cycling
Hiring bikes is a great way to explore the flatter areas of the Cabo de Gata park. You can get them from the Park Tourist Information Office and from Buceo in Las Negras who can also explore arrange a guide. Or take to the coast on your own two wheels with hire from Isub in San Jose.

Caving
In the fantastic Caves at Sorbas close to the apartment you can experience the wonders underground on a variety of trip options from 1.5 hour trips suitable for virtually everyone up to 5 hour expeditions led by a local guide for experienced cavers and climbers only.  Airborne Pursuits

Quad Biking and Horse Riding
Check out Indalo Quad Bikes from Mojacar and speed off into the desert and mountains on treks of up to 3 hours along dried up river beds and mountain tracks
There are also two large family go karting tracks for those who feel the need for speed
Horse Riding is available nearby at Vera, or up in the hills at Bedar. More details available at the apartment.There are plenty of options to explore the marine park area by horse to take day trips into the Sierra Nevada or the desert country to the north of the apartment

Walking
With the use of a car you can access three completely different walking environments in Almeria. The National Park at Cabo de Gata with its world famous rocky volcanic coastline, inland wander into the higher desert areas in the arid Tabernas mountains home of the spagetti westerns or finally west to the Sierra Nevada Mountain ranges for those wanting to make some serious walks in mountain terrain.
The Cabo de Gata park has to be a must walk destination for those who like to wander. A path extends along the entire coast line for 61km around the southern tip of the park to Agua Amarga with day hikes possible right through the park. Isolated, unspoilt and unique scenery this is great walking country where stunning beaches framed by harsh volcanic hills await.
Beyond Almeria you can access walking trails in the Las Alpujarras and Sierra Nevada Mountains informaiton on routes can be obtained from the Laujar de Andarax Visitors Centre including several excellent trails from El Nacimiento a set of waterfalls rushing through a steep sided gorge.

Birdwatching
There is a huge area of wetlands in the National Park at Cabo de Gata
Punta Entinas-Sabinar close to Almerimar hold over 150 species of water birds and are famous as a place to spot flamingo's. From bird hides in the Salt Lagoons in the Cabo de Gata park you can witness flocks of up to 1000 migrating flamingo's heading to their breeding grounds from Africa.

Remember you don't need to go far for Golf. At the apartment you are based right next to the excellent Valle del Este Course. Close by you also have easy access to the following ranges -

Places to Visit
Water Park at Vera Playa
Just a few minutes by car will take you to the water park at Vera. The Parque Aquatico has fantastic water rides and giant slides for all ages. A great wave pool, even trapeze jumping and trampolining. A must for children and plenty of room for adults to soak up the sun. With a reastaurant on site, the water park has everything required for a great day out. J
Hollywood in the Tabernas Desert
The province of Almeria has a stunning landscape that has attracted film makers since the early sixties. The Tabermas Desert with its windblown sandstone and dry river beds has provided dramatic backdrops for dozens of "spaghetti westerns", as well as Lawrence of Arabia with Peter O’Toole – and other more recent films.
Mini Hollywood is a theme park, providing a variety of attractions, including a twice daily simulation of a spectacular Wild West gunfight, a carriage museum, a film museum, a cactus garden and a zoo.
Texas Hollywood is a working location that also offers visitors the chance to stroll around the film sets, including a Mexican village, an Indian village and a typical wild west town, complete with saloon, shops, a bank and stables with horses and authentic stage coaches.

Excursions
Carboneras
Take a drive south along the E15, then turn off along the N-341 through the Parque Natural towards the coast. You will reach Carboneras, a very attractive coastal town, a good place to stop for lunch. Return towards Mojacar Playa by the coast road and stop at one of the viewing places for a sensational panorama.
Bedar
A scenic drive to an old hill town that has managed to retain its peace, tranquillity and beauty, overlooking a fertile valley dotted with small farms. Wander on foot through the narrow, winding streets and don't miss the old washing boards and troughs still in place. The Miramar Restaurant is a must- the food is reasonably priced and delicious - speciality, the roast lamb, to die for!
Cabrera
Well worth a visit - this secluded development of Moroccan style dwellings is situated highon the Cabrera mountain. At the top you can enjoy some stunning mountain views and a nice meal in one of the restaurants.
Mojacar
This Moorish village sprinkled over the mountain top can be seen from Mojacar Playa. In spite of being very near the coastal resorts, you can still find quaint cobbled back streets and unusual shops and eating places there.
