The best of the North Cornwall Area

Dominated by its harsh Atlantic coastline the North Cornwall region is founded on a history of smuggling, wrecking and a Cornish people's survival against the elements. Today thankfully, we are left with a wild and breathtaking coastline that offers stunning walking and exploring terrain. Interspersed with unusual and charismatic fishing harbours and villages, North Cornwall also has dazzling beaches and surfing opportunities to rival anywhere else in the UK.

Click on the links below for further information about the villages and countryside found along the coastline as well as the cycling, canoeing and walking trips that provide fantastic journeys to visit them.

Wild, rugged and well off the beaten tourist track, the border hamlet of Morwenstow is a fine introduction to Cornwall's coastline and history.

Miles of golden sands, surfing to die for and a relaxed holiday town with plenty for visitors to explore.

Hemmed in by dramatic, towering cliffs, a stunning little beach at the end of a lush green valley. Outstanding walking in every direction.

With its impressive dog legged harbour, museum of witchcraft and Atlantic Blow Hole, Boscastle has plenty to inspire a visit. Up above the breathtaking harbour area is a timeless and picturesque Cornish village with some stunning inland walking in the footsteps of Hardy.

Gateway to King Arthur's lands and legends. The spectacular, dark and powerful Tintagel Castle should not be missed. Its location feels like the world's end, high above some of the most striking coastline in Cornwall.

The perfect Cornish Fishing village? This has to be a contender and unlike many others, Port Isaac is wonderfully unspoilt and forever appealing to its visitors.

North Coast Padstow brings you Rick Stein, the stunning Camel Estuary and another fascinating working harbour. For something different, Bodmin is centrally placed between both coasts and home to the county's most unusual attractions gathered beneath the mighty moors.

18 Miles of fantastic traffic free cycle trail along a virtually flat old railway line from Padstow. Amazing variety of scenery from coast to moors and links onto routes to cycle to Eden and the Fowey Valley ... not to be missed.

The 60 mile section from the Devon border to Padstow is the toughest section of this 630 mile footpath. But toughness brings reward with some of the wildest, most unspoilt and dramatic coast path in not only all of Cornwall but indeed the whole of the UK.

Starting from Padstow and crossing Cornwall coast to coast to end in Fowey, this 30 mile trail gives you a taste of everything Cornwall has to offer the visitor as you walk an ancient trail in the footsteps of medieval holy men and drovers. En-route you can also walk to Eden for a memorable and traffic free way of visiting the project.
